Leonard F. Fisk

Leonard F. Fisk, age 86, resident of Lakota, ND, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND.


Leonard Floyd Fisk was born May 6, 1930 in Illinois Township of Nelson County, ND, the son of Floyd and Marie (Tessman) Fisk.  He was raised and educated in the Lakota area.  Leonard married Elaine Nelson on October 5, 1948.  He worked for Standard Oil Company before farming south of Lakota for many years.  He also was active in the Civil Air Patrol where he helped in many search and rescues.  He began working with Team Electronics, then moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where he owned a store.  He moved back to Lakota and worked as a Nelson County Deputy Sheriff and was also Lakota Chief of Police.  Leonard married Carol Sayler in August of 1995.  More recently, he worked for Don Solberg Camper Sales until his retirement.  He then had spare time to rebuild his 1946 Mercury and a tractor.  He enjoyed camping, tinkering in his garage and participating in the “In Memory of Pets” organization.


Leonard will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol Fisk of Lakota; 5 children, Don (Sue) Fisk of Grand Forks, ND, Pam (Larry) Mason of Amarillo, TX, Sheila Fisk of Lakota, Rod (Cathi) Fisk of Michigan, ND, and Larry (Carrie) Fisk of Grand Forks, ND; 4 step-children, Curt (Carla) Sayler of Jamestown, ND, Clarence (Audrey) Sayler and Corey Sayler, both of Bismarck, ND, and Cathy (Edward) Rath of Menoken, ND; 11 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Colleen (Allen) Belyea of Larimore, ND; and many nieces & nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcella Paverud; and a brother, Willard Fisk.


The Memorial Service for Leonard will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church, Lakota, ND, on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
