In Loving Memory...

Rosemary E. Voss

Rosemary E. Voss, 92, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.  She was born to George and Ida (Krause) Meyer on February 23, 1925, in rural Richland County, North Dakota.

Rosemary attended rural Richland county schools and worked at Wahpeton Science School during World War II.  She met her future husband Bob Voss after the war, and they were married at St. John’s Church in Wahpeton, ND, on June 3, 1947.  They had six children and lived in Fairmount, ND, until 1960 when they moved to Lakota, ND.  Rosemary and Bob moved to Touchmark Retirement Center in Fargo in 2012, and Rosemary moved to Elim Care Center in 2015.

Rosemary spent most of her life as a homemaker taking care of her children.  She also worked a few years at the Gronna Home as well as giving childcare to three little girls. She and Bob bought a cabin on West McDonald Lake in Minnesota, where they enjoyed many years of fishing and relaxing.  Some of her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, reading, playing Bingo, and embroidering.  During the last year of her life, one of her greatest joys was adult coloring and giving those very special works of art to family and friends.  She was also active in St. Mary’s Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizen’s Club of Lakota.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Pat Schroeder, Deb Voss, Jane (Leonard) Voss, David Voss all of Fargo, ND, Kathy (Rick) Schmidt of Lakota, ND, and Richard (Barb) Voss of Dent, MN; grandchildren, Jon (Christina) Schroeder, Piedmont, CA, Bryan (Beth) Voss, Rockford, MN, Travis (Brandi) Schmidt, Lakota, ND, Kevin (Lauren) Voss, Boise, Idaho, Katie (Tina) Schmidt, Moorhead, MN, Taylor (Jessica) Voss, St. Louis, MO, and Lincoln Voss, Fargo, ND; six great grandchildren, Rider Schmidt, Landon and Noelle Schroeder, August and William Voss, and Dakota Voss, and special extended family: Montana, Rhett, and Briar Halberg; Jayden, Koby, and Markus Kooren; Dan, Leigh, and Michelle Bachmeier; Anna and Soren Fleming; and Carl Jacobs.  She is also survived by brothers, Elroy (Beata), Bud (Joanne), Lambert (Joan), and Jerry (Mary) Meyer.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Bob; daughter in law, Terry Voss; sister, Florence Boll; and brother, Lawrence Meyer.

Her strong faith was an important part of her life, and the family of Rosemary would like to give special thanks to Sister Sharon of Nativity Church in Fargo for all her prayers and visits.  We would also like to extend a thank you to Mary Kaye at Sanford Dialysis Center for all the special time and care she gave to our mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Lakota, ND, Monday, April 17th with visitation one hour prior to Mass.  Burial will follow at the Lakota Cemetery.

Memorials in Rosemary’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church or the Lakota City Library Expansion Fund, both in Lakota, ND.
