Dennis R. Becherl

Dennis R. Becherl, age 73, resident of Binford, ND, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.


Dennis Roy Becherl was born May 20, 1943 at Sharon, ND, the son of Roy and Ethel (Rostberg) Becherl.  He was raised in the Sutton & Jessie area, attending a country school near Jessie, and high school in Cooperstown.  He then worked at the Sutton elevator and Standard Oil Company at Sutton.  He enlisted in the N.D. National Guard and served from 1962 until 1966.  Dennis married Karen Lofgren on June 10, 1967 at Lake Park, MN.  They made their home in Sutton, where Dennis continued to work.  The family moved to Binford in 1974.  It was there that Dennis worked for Edlund Motors before becoming a truck driver for Valley Truck Line in Cooperstown.  He began working for Griggs County as a grader operator, which he did for several years until his retirement.  Dennis and Karen then enjoyed travelling and spending time together.  Dennis thoroughly loved camping and the outdoors.  He was a ham radio operator, his call sign was NØOTO.


Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen Becherl of Binford, ND; 3 children, Rob (Gina) Becherl of West Fargo, ND, Craig (Carrie) Becherl of Cooperstown, ND, and Tammy Becherl (fiancé, Stephen Smith) of Jamestown, ND; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a sister, Jeannette (Gary) Klubberud of Fargo, ND; and his nieces & nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Robin Becherl; 2 grandchildren, Allison & Avery Becherl; and his mother & father-in-law, Evelyn & George Lofgren.


The Funeral Mass for Dennis will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Jessie, ND, on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the spring at the St. Lawrence Church Cemetery, rural Jessie.  Visitation will be held at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel on Sunday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the Church on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

So sorry for your family's loss.  Dad always had to check up on you guys when coming to town.  We will miss seeing Denny on his 4wheeler pulling the grandkids in the train.  We just have to keep thinking of all the happy times you all had together.  Now he is pain free and in a great place.
