Neil S. Twete

Neil Severt Twete, resident of McVille, ND, formerly of rural Tolna, ND died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille.


Neil was born December 1, 1931 near Tolna, ND the son of Oliver and Bergetta (Thorson) Twete.  He grew up in the area, and graduated from Tolna High School in 1949.  After school, Neil joined the United States Army in 1953.  He was honorably discharged in 1955, and returned home to work.  Neil married Bernice Hermanson on January 22, 1954.  After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the rural Tolna area for many years.  Bernice passed away on August 23, 1999. 


Neil was a member of Tolna American Legion Post #162 for over 60 years, and Sigdal Lutheran Church.    He was a 4-H leader, and served on the Tolna Elevator Board.  Neil enjoyed playing pool and cards. 


Neil is preceded in death by his wife Bernice; parents; brothers Kearn and Arley Twete; and sister Helen Logan.


Neil is survived by his children, Stacy (Angela) Twete of Tolna, ND, Steven (Diane) Twete of Pekin, ND, Cindy (Gene) Donarski of Crookston, MN, and Melanie (Dane) Weeks of Blaine, MN; grandchildren, Darcie Rose, Mandy (Jason) Cassavant, Bethany (Tommy) Staehnke, Jennifer Donarski, Adam (fiancé Mia Treuer) Donarski, Allison (Brian) Schmitt, William Weeks, and Katelyn Weeks; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Tegan Rose and Nolan and Christian Cassavant; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 


Memorial services will be Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church.  Interment will be in Sigdal Church Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by Tolna American Legion Post #162 and the North Dakota Military Honors Team.

So sorry to hear about Neil.  I always enjoyed our visits in the local watering holes and games of pool we played (he usually kicked my butt).

Thoughts and prayers to the Twete "kids".- Stacey, Angie, Fred, Diane, Cindy and Boog and families.  Neil always seemed to have a grin on his face and a nice word to say when I would see him at the asst'living or nursing home in McVille.  Hang on to the memories.  ❤
